Kinematic Sensor Mount
This was an internal development project at Starrett Bytewise to create a better sensor mounting system. The old system was over constrained, extremely slow, frustrating, and required constant readjustment. I developed this system using a kinematic mount with high TPI adjustment screws for greater accuracy. The screws are installed in custom brass hardware that allows the screws to be locked in place using a flexure that does not influence their positioning. This system proved to be particularly resilient to vibrations which was sometimes an issue during shipping of previous units. This was designed to be compatible with a large variety of sensor sizes and formats. The photos shown below are of the prototype test rig in various stages of development. It is shown with only a laser installed, but has mounting provisions for a full sensor body
